This is the inaugural vintage for this wine, which is an LCBO/restaurant exclusive, it brings iCellars quality (all estate fruit and attention to every detail) to a more affordable level. Merlot dominates as a single variety, at 40%, while the Cabernets (Franc and Sauvignon) have an equal share of the remaining 60. One-third new oak and using both French and American barrels to bring different elements from each into this complex offering. Smooth yet spicy at times where the fruit is concerned: spiced-raspberry / spiced-cherry, smoky blackberry, cassis and a finish that pushes subtle white pepper notes into the mix … if you have heard of iCellars but thought their wines too expensive or just want to see what all the fuss was about – this is a great place to start; and if you have never heard of iCellars welcome to your next great winery to love. Drink now in a big glass, decanted or age 5-7 years with ease. Price: $29.95 – Rating: ****
